Out of the Print Shop, Into the Forest: Where Our Cycle Begins!

What do 600 small seedlings have to do with modern printing?

Everything! Because the forest is not just nature – it is the beginning of our paper circular economy. On 9 December 2025, Thomas Holzmeier, Gerald Leicht and four of our apprentices proved that responsibility does not end at our factory gate. Together with “Aktion Baum”, they headed to Wendelstein near Nuremberg to lend a hand themselves.

On site it quickly became clear: the forester does not see the printing company as an adversary, but as a genuine partner. Why? Because we are part of the same cycle. Paper is a renewable raw material, but this cycle only works if we care for its origin.

Planting the future 600 times

The forest is under stress – as the discussions about invasive species and the consequences of climate change clearly showed. To make the forest more resilient, our team did not rely on monocultures but on diversity. 600 seedlings were planted, consisting of:

• Sweet chestnut
• Linden
• Oak
• Cherry

Act locally, have a global impact: the UN Sustainable Development Goals

With this initiative, we not only make a contribution to Wendelstein but actively support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

• Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being): The forest is a place of recreation and an air filter.
• Goal 6 (Clean Water): Healthy forest soils are essential for our groundwater.
• Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities): Reforestation strengthens the local ecosystem.
• Goal 13 (Climate Action): Trees are our most important allies in binding CO₂.
• Goal 15 (Life on Land): The mixed forest promotes biodiversity and protects habitats.
